Growing up my dad would often make boiled red scorpion fish with salad, just like this one. He would serve it with olive oil, lemon, garlic and parsley sauce and bread or potatoes on a side. During my weight loss journey I will be serving it like this. But even going forward, consuming lighter meals will be my priority!

Any white, sea fish works well for this fish recipe for weight loss. I love using red scorpion fish. They have silky flesh and very mild taste. But even cod or flounder taste great.

And don’t be lazy when cleaning the fish like me. Remove gills, scale and insides of course.

Depending on the size of the fish cooking time will vary for this easy fish recipe for weight loss. But usually fish takes around 15-20 minutes to cook. So the whole meal, boiled red scorpion fish with salad, can be served in around the same time.

For any fish weight loss recipes, like this one you can prepare the fish a day ahead. It will keep in the fridge for around two days.

Boiled Red Scorpion Fish With Salad



Total time




  • 1 red scorpion fish

  • Water

  • Handful parsley leaves

  • Green salad

  • Apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt


  • Clean the fish – remove insides, gills and scale.
  • Place a medium size pot filled with water on to a stove. Bring to boil.
  • Place fish into the boiling water then reduce the heat to simmering point. Cook until fish is fork tender. Fish I cooked in the video took 15 minutes.
  • In the meantime, prepare the salad. Wash and cut into bite size chunks. Place in a big bowl. Season with salt, olive oil and vinegar.
  • Enjoy while warm!
