These weight loss videos I post on YouTube are a few weeks late, because they take a while to edit. So, when I filmed this one, summer fruits were just starting to arrive, and I was still eating mostly apples. And to switch things up I made this weight loss apple compote recipe. Which is absolutely delicious! And all without sugar!
As always, in baking and cooking, I like to use Granny Smith apples. They hold their shape nicely and I like the tart taste. But you can use any apple you like for this easy apple compote recipe!
When you are adding water, add just enough to barely cover the apples. This way this healthy compote recipe will turn out thick and with more flavor. If you add too much water, it is more likely that the compote wont be as rich in flavor.
Aside from cinnamon, you can add any spices you like to this apple compote recipe. I imagine ground cardamon would be nice too!
And if you are not watching your calorie intake, I would suggest to serve this healthy apple compote recipe over some healthy homemade vanilla ice cream. It is just the best combo!

2 Granny Smith apples
Water just to cover the apples
1 tsp cinnamon
- Wash, peel then cut apple into medium size chunks. Place in a smaller pot, cover with water.
- Ones water starts boiling, reduce the heat to simmering point and cook until apples soften up.
- Add the cinnamon and mix.
- Serve at room temperature or cold. And enjoy!
